Remember Thrive? The stunning concrete sculpture at Las Olas Society in Fort Lauderdale? Well her new sister has just found her natural home right here in South Beach!
The gorgeous new sculpture combines metalwork wood and greenery to represent a peaceful-looking woman with flowers in her hair clutching her hands to her chest. Her name, Siyanda, means “we are growing” in Zulu and reflects on our relationship with nature.
“She represents our relationship with nature, its wild growth, our connection with it, and the journey we share together. When we connect with nature we will naturally feel the need to look after it. Growth is inevitable. Take a moment to enjoy your infinite growth and transformation. Where there is growth, there is evidence of life,” reads artist Daniel Popper’s Instagram post.
Hailing from Cape Town, Popper is a globally-recognized artist whose work consists of spectacular mega-installations that have featured prominently at hit music festivals such as Electric Forest and Burning Man, as well as other paradisiacal destinations like Tulum, Mexico, and Chicago’s Morton Arboretum.
The renowned artist brought Siyanda over from Las Vegas to the 305 for Art With Me, the Tulum-inspired arts festival that took over Virginia Key on Thanksgiving weekend, and has now installed it at 1 Hotel South Beach for Art Basel.
Siyanda will remain at the hotel’s 1 Beach Club for only a month before she travels to her next destination so make sure to pay her a visit and reconnect with nature before she’s gone!
