Alice Evans, 55, is seeking financial support from her ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd, 50, citing an inability to provide for their two daughters, Ella, 14, and Elsie, 10. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Evans claims she is in dire financial straits, unable to support herself and their children following their custody agreement settled two months ago.
Evans, who now has full custody of their daughters, alleges she is behind on rent and utility payments and has resorted to applying for public assistance. She emphasizes Gruffudd's supposedly lavish lifestyle in contrast to her financial struggles, pointing out his frequent international travels and recent engagement, which reportedly included expensive gifts like Rolex watches.
The actress, who claims to earn approximately $300 per month from royalties, asserts that she will not survive financially without guideline child and spousal support from Gruffudd. Their divorce proceedings, including financial trial, are expected to extend over several months.
Gruffudd and Evans separated on January 1, 2021, after over 13 years of marriage, with the actor filing for divorce in March of that year. Representatives for both parties have not yet responded to requests for comment on the recent developments.
