Bella Thorne is making waves on social media with her candid thoughts about Ozempic and its influence on beauty standards. On Saturday, July 20, the 26-year-old actress shared a bold video on her Instagram Stories, where she expressed her dissatisfaction with the unrealistic body expectations set by the popular weight-loss drug.
In the video, Thorne, wearing a blue leopard-print bikini, opened up about her recent struggles with body image. "So, I haven't been feeling good about my body for a while," she began. "And especially with everybody on Ozempic, it's like setting all these crazy beauty standards that nobody can keep up with unless you're on Ozempic."
Ozempic, originally a medication for type 2 diabetes, has gained attention in the entertainment industry for its off-label use in weight loss, sparking controversy over its effects on societal beauty norms.
To combat her insecurities, Thorne shared that she has been focusing on exercising and self-care. "I have swam every day and I have sweat out everything possible and I have walked everywhere," she said. "And, I'm finally feeling good about myself, okay?"
Concluding her message with a defiant gesture, Thorne declared, "I'm finally feeling good, so Ozempic, you can..." before flipping off the camera and finishing with, "...off."
Thorne has a history of discussing health issues with her followers. In February, she opened up about her mental health struggles on Instagram. "I'm doing a mental health check-in," she said. "My mental health is not good. On a scale of one to crying all night, I'm at a 10."
Emphasizing the importance of acknowledging mental health struggles, Thorne continued, "It's important to make these videos because when we go on social media, we see all this happiness, amazing looks, hair, makeup and everything. Even making this list is making me more depressed. But I guess what I'm trying to say is it's okay to be depressed."
In her caption, she reminded her followers of the importance of mental health check-ins: "Mental health is important, and often we prioritize everything else in our lives over it, but it eventually catches up with us. So, don’t end up like me. Do the mental health check-ins that are needed before you reach this point."
Bella Thorne's honesty about body image and mental health resonates with many, highlighting the pressures faced by individuals in the public eye. Her message serves as a reminder to prioritize self-care and reject unrealistic beauty standards.
