The actor, 50, admitted that the Dancing with the Stars alum, 38, thought he was "insane" to sign up for season 2 of Fox's boot camp-style reality competition Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Still, Green doesn't regret his decision. "I'm really genuinely happy that I experienced this," he shared. "This is one of the things that I can look back on in life and go, the fact that we got to do this, we got to do something that unless you're serving [in the military].... This isn't something that you would normally experience. It's so cool."

That's not to say the Beverly Hills 90210 alum didn't have a few moments when he kicked himself for volunteering for the grueling, physically demanding reality show

"I thought, 'Oh, this is going to be a great test of what I've been through and who I am now and what I'm capable of.' And then you get into it and you go, 'Man, I'm in way over my head on this. I so underestimated this experience,'" he explained.

When he didn't have the in-person support of Burgess and his kids — who thought it was "so cool" that their dad was doing the competition — Green got through the World's Toughest Test by leaning on his costars, including Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval, Olympic skier Bode Miller, singer JoJo Siwa, reality star Savannah Chrisley and American Pie star Tara Reid.

"They really try and unite all of us and have us all looking out for each other and working as a team, which is a very military state of mind. When you've got a unit, you're only as strong as the person that's next to you."

Green said he feels super close with his castmates after everything they experienced together. "It's crazy when you go through something like this. I equate it almost to a plane crash where we all have this thing in common and nobody else that wasn't involved in this will have the same bond that we do and the same experience of this. So now we have something when we see each other," he explained.

Green and Burgess, who have been dating since 2020, welcomed a baby boy named Zane together in June 2022. The couple recently celebrated their son's first birthday, and Green joked ahead of the milestone that the pro dancer would likely go way overboard to spoil Zane on his special day.

Green is also dad to sons Journey River, 7, Bodhi Ransom, 9, and Noah Shannon, 10, with ex Megan Fox, and Kassius "Kass" Lijah, 21, with ex Vanessa Marcil
