Cardi B Says She'll Do a Spanish-Language Project After Sophomore Album
Cardi B is already looking ahead to her third album, and it might come with a Spanish twist. The Grammy-winning rapper, 31, revealed plans for a Spanish-language project following the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album.
On June 23, Cardi B took to Instagram Stories, singing along to her Peso Pluma collaboration "Put Em in the Fridge" and asked her followers if they would want a Spanish-language album. The response was overwhelming, with almost 480,000 people voting and 79% supporting the idea.
"OK AFTER MY ENGLISH ALBUM," she wrote on her Stories the next day, confirming her plans.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the follow-up to her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, which won her a Grammy. Despite releasing several chart-topping singles and collaborations since then, Cardi has kept details of her sophomore album under wraps. In May, she shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that she wouldn’t be releasing an album in 2024, opting instead to relax, fulfill feature commitments, and enjoy her summer.
Earlier in the year, she had assured fans via Instagram Stories that she had “100” unreleased songs for her second album and vowed not to let anxiety or criticism hold her back from dropping new music. “If I do a song, I’m gonna just f---ing drop it,” she said. “Well, I’ve got no choice because I’m dropping my album this year.”
Despite the delay, Cardi B has kept fans entertained with new music, including solo singles “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami)” released in March. This followed her vow in a September 2023 Vogue México y Latinoamérica cover story to focus on solo singles rather than collaborations.
With the promise of a Spanish-language album on the horizon, Cardi B continues to excite and surprise her fans, showing her versatility and commitment to exploring new musical avenues.
