As fans continue to wonder whether Kelce and Swift are dating, following a report that linked the singer and football player on Tuesday, Schefter playfully addressed the rumors in a Friday appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter.
The NFL tight end, 33, was listed as questionable in an injury report by the Kansas City Chiefs after hyperextending his knee during a team practice, and the sports reporter decided to use the recent romance rumors as a source of inspiration as he discussed the player with anchor Kevin Negandhi on the Friday show.
"Well, Kevin, he was limited at practice today, but he was back on the field, running around, jumping, making plays," Schefter said while speaking of Kelce and interjecting Swift, 33, song titles.
"Clearly, Travis Kelce, at this point in time, is trying to Shake It Off and get back out there. He knows how much he's needed and that he's The Man."
"It was a little bit of a Cruel Summer for Travis Kelce with that knee injury but he can see the Daylight, Kevin," he continued. "He looks like he's Ready For It. And Travis [Kelce] is now tracking to play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite the fact that he was just limited today."
While the athlete has not addressed the romance rumors, his brother, Jason Kelce, shared in a post-game interview Thursday night following the Philadelphia Eagles’ 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings that "he cannot comment" on his siblings' love life.
“Ever since Catching Kelce everybody’s been infatuated with Travis’ love life,” Jason said, referring to his brother's short-lived reality dating show. “I don’t really know what’s going on there, but I know Travis is having fun and we’ll see what happens with whoever he ends up with.”
The Kansas City Chiefs player spoke about his interest in dating the popstar during an episode of his and his brother's podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, in July.
During the episode, he revealed that he tried to give Swift his phone number before a stop on her Eras Tour concert earlier this summer.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her," he said at the time.
