Pérez Art Museum Miami proudly presents "Coming to Fruition," the inaugural solo exhibition of Miami-native artist Jason Seife, running through March 17, 2024. The exhibition, which opened on May 19, following a celebration on May 18, introduces visitors to Seife's latest site-specific creations, including an original wallpaper design, triptychs, and a substantial canvas piece.
Rooted in his Middle Eastern background, Seife's art draws heavily from the aesthetics of Persian carpets and Islamic art, meticulously translating these traditional motifs into his digital and painted works. His unique approach involves digitally crafting carpet-like designs that echo the historical practice of embedding patterns and colors with cultural and communal significance. These designs are then carefully hand-painted onto concrete or canvas, showcasing Seife's dedication to blending historical craftsmanship with contemporary art practices.
"Coming to Fruition" highlights Seife's process, showcasing the transition from bare concrete to fully realized works through the presentation of two triptychs. These pieces reveal the evolution of his work from the initial, sparsely painted stages to the final, complex compositions, inviting viewers to appreciate the depth and detail of his artistic journey.
Seife's international presence is evident through his solo shows in cities like Dubai, Rome, London, and Brussels, and his participation in numerous group exhibitions globally. His artistry extends beyond painting into graphic design, where he has collaborated with prominent music industry figures such as Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj. "Coming to Fruition" not only celebrates Seife's artistic achievements but also underscores his innovative fusion of cultural heritage with contemporary artistry.
