The celebrations kicked off with a brunch at Villa Pizzo — the site of the couple's first wedding ceremony a decade ago — on Saturday. "It was very romantic," the source says. "They arrived by boat. ... It was breathtaking to see them still so happy together."
Later in the day, the vow renewal ceremony took place. "[John and Chrissy] came out onto a balcony and greeted all the guests," the insider says. "[John] also held a brief speech later, after the dinner."
"There was dancing and there was a lakeside bar that was a big favorite," the source continues. "The food was appreciated."
The source also notes there were "flowers everywhere," adding: "It's been a very elegant, very classic event."
Teigen, 37, and Legend, 44. first met in 2006 on the set of the singer's music video for his single "Stereo."
In the early years of their relationship, the pair traveled to Lake Como together, which is where Teigen first realized she wanted to marry her now husband.
In a 2016 Instagram post, Teigen shared a photo of the couple at the destination with the caption: "Back to where it all began - Lake Como, Italy - first came here in 2007."
She continued, "A boat tour guide took us to a little spot on the lake and told us to make a wish. I asked for this to be the man I marry and have children with. I think John asked for the most perfect bite of cacio e pepe. Both came true, and here we are."
In December 2011, Legend proposed to Teigen, and the two then wed in a private ceremony on Sept. 10 at a New York City courthouse.
Four days later, they celebrated and exchanged their vows in the Italian town, where Teigen wore a Vera Wang gown and Legend serenaded her with “All of Me,” the 2013 love song he dedicated in her honor.
Teigen, who shares four children — Luna Simone, 7, Miles Theodore, 5, Esti Maxine, 9 months, and Wren Alexander, 2 months — with her husband, teased the couple's 10-year anniversary celebrations on social media earlier this week.
On her Instagram Story Thursday, Teigen teased that the “10th anniversary weekend is commmming” with a snapshot of a poolside location.
