Soul music and civil rights legend Mavis Staples will perform at the Knight Concert Hall on Friday, March 8, as a highlight of the Arsht Center's Live at Knight series. Mavis Staples, whose career has flourished for over sixty years, has captivated listeners with her potent, soulful voice. Her impressive list of achievements includes 11 Grammy Awards, induction into the Blues and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame, the National Arts Awards Lifetime Achievement, and a Kennedy Center honor. A key figure in the iconic Staple Singers, her influence spans gospel, soul, and R&B genres.

The concert will feature a mix of Staple Singers hits like “Respect Yourself,” “Heavy Makes You Happy,” and “I’ll Take You There,” alongside covers such as the Talking Heads’ “Slippery People” and Funkadelic’s “Can You Get to That,” plus tracks from Staples’ recent work with artists Ben Harper and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.
