Millie Bobby Brown shared details about Jake Bongiovi's unique marriage proposal during her appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." The 20-year-old actress, engaged to Jon Bon Jovi's son since April 2023, disclosed the special moment to Jimmy Fallon, emphasizing the significance of their shared passion for diving. Brown revealed that their love for diving played a pivotal role in their relationship, as they both obtained their diving licenses together. She recounted how Bongiovi, 21, set the stage for the proposal by insisting on an early start for a diving excursion during their vacation, telling her, "Mil, you got to be up at 8:00 a.m., we’re going on a dive."

"I was like, '8 a.m., dive?'... And he's telling me, 'We're going to the same spot we usually go to,'" Brown continued. "I'm like, 'It's boring, let's go somewhere new.' He's like, 'No, we have to go to this spot.'"

Arriving at the designated spot, the Stranger Things star recounted how they descended many meters underwater.

"He gives me like a shell and I turn it over, and it's a ring," she recalled. "And I looked at him, and he was like..." Brown paused, mimicking his expression and the bubbles, as Bongiovi couldn't talk underwater.

Raising a thumbs up, she explained, "This means, 'up,' 'I want to go up.' So that would technically mean, 'No, I don't want to marry you, I want to go up.'"

"So I was like okay," Brown elaborated, gesturing the "okay" hand signal. "And I think it was underwhelming, but we were ecstatic."

"Then he slips the ring onto my finger, and as I go to show him, the ring slides off my finger and drops rapidly, like something out of a movie," she described, adding, "Jake dove after it, so deep that the diver warned, 'You can't do that, your ears... literally, your brain will explode.'"

Brown detailed how Bongiovi heroically dove down and with a dramatic catch, managed to save the ring.

She reflected, "It's a testament to who he is, and it shows we'll always support each other. If one of us drops the ball, we're there to catch it." Following Bongiovi's retrieval of the ring, they surfaced, allowing him to formally propose.

After accepting his proposal, Brown learned Bongiovi had initially intended to use her mother's ring for the proposal. However, her mother had objected, saying, "Absolutely not, Jake. You're not taking my ring down there; I know you'll drop it." Eventually, Bongiovi proposed underwater with a different ring and presented Brown with her mother's ring on the boat.

"When we got back on the boat, he said, 'This is your mom's ring, and I got it from your parents,'" Brown reminisced. "It was incredibly magical, and his parents were there too. We looked so disheveled coming out of the water."

Brown and Bongiovi first sparked romance rumors in June 2021 when he posted a selfie with her on Instagram, captioning it "bff <3."
