In response to a fan on X (formerly Twitter) who commented on one of her workout videos, Cardi shared that she's focusing on her mental and physical well-being, rather than conforming to societal pressures. "I’m not doing heavy lifting, no muscle straining, squatting—none of that… just cardio. Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression, you gotta keep your mind busy, and for me, that’s work and staying active," she explained.
The Grammy-winning artist, who is also mom to Wave, 3, and Kulture, 6, with her estranged husband Offset, went on to call out critics who previously shamed her for gaining weight during pregnancy. "Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant. Now y’all fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working, now that you see I’m still at it, it’s something else??" Cardi wrote, making it clear that her postpartum journey is for herself, not for anyone else's approval.
The fan clarified that their post was meant to comment on society's unrealistic "snap back" culture, where new mothers are expected to quickly regain their pre-baby bodies. Cardi responded with understanding: "Totally babe!! And I do agree about society and pressure… I just was never the type to care about snap back after birth." However, she revealed that something feels different this time around: "I don’t know what it is about this time, but I have this burst of energy where I want to do EVERYTHING… It’s like I want to complete all my goals in one day."
Cardi's remarks came just hours after she shared workout videos on her Instagram Stories, where she can be seen on the stair master, motivating herself through the session. "Big thirty minutes on the stair master… ITS PERSONAL!!!!" she captioned the video. "Do you know you got 30 minutes? YAAAAASSSS THIRTY THIRTY."
While she hasn’t yet revealed her new baby’s name, Cardi has expressed her joy in becoming a mother of three, writing on her Instagram broadcast channel, "I'm sooo in love with my little baby!! She’s so cute and tiny."
Cardi B continues to navigate motherhood on her own terms, choosing to prioritize what feels right for her body and mind over the pressure to "snap back" quickly after giving birth.
