Rapper Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, has passed away at the age of 34. TMZ reported that Lamar was found dead at his Atlanta home on September 5, though the cause of death has not been disclosed. The Fulton County medical examiner has confirmed the death and announced that an autopsy will be conducted on Friday.

Lamar first gained prominence in 2012, but his career truly took off in 2013 with hits like "Type of Way" and a notable feature on YG’s "My N----" alongside Jeezy. His solo success was marked by the chart-topping single "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" and further hits such as "Walk Thru" with Problem, "Ride Out" featuring Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale, and YG, and "Save Dat Money" with Lil Dicky and Fetty Wap.

Rich Homie Quan's debut album, Rich as in Spirit, released in March 2018, peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200 chart. Throughout his career, he collaborated with a range of artists including Rick Ross, Keke Palmer, Jeremih, Future, Boosie BadAzz, Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz.

Lamar, who was also a devoted father to four sons—two with Amber "Rella" Williams and two from a previous relationship—received an outpouring of tributes from the music community following his passing. Boosie BadAzz took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his grief, reminiscing about their time together and lamenting the loss. Playboi Carti also shared heartfelt tributes on Instagram.

The cause of Lamar's death remains under investigation, and tributes continue to flow from fans and fellow artists alike. For those struggling with substance abuse, the SAMHSA helpline is available at 1-800-662-HELP.
