Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram on August 18 to pay tribute to his longtime friend and co-star, Hugh Jackman. The 47-year-old actor shared a moving post, recalling the first time he met Jackman on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2007.
Reynolds, who described himself as a "nervous mess" back then, reflected on how Jackman, already a movie star, treated everyone on set with respect and kindness. "Film sets can have a scary imbalance of power, and I remember seeing how he treated every member of the crew with genuine respect and appreciation," Reynolds wrote. He emphasized that Jackman redefined the term "filmmaker" to include everyone involved in the movie, not just the big names.
The tribute also touched on a pivotal moment in 2022 when Jackman called Reynolds to discuss bringing Wolverine back to the big screen. Despite having a tough week, Jackman was eager to return as the iconic character. "He told me he wanted to bring The Wolverine back," Reynolds shared. He added that when Jackman stepped onto the set in the iconic yellow suit, it was clear something special was happening.
Reynolds praised Jackman as both a friend and an inspiration, stating, "He’ll do anything for someone he loves. He’ll do anything for someone he just met." He concluded by expressing how Jackman made his dreams come true by bringing Wolverine back, not just for fans but for him as well.
Jackman responded to Reynolds' heartfelt message by sharing on Instagram Stories that it brought him to tears, writing, "And … I’m crying. Again."
Deadpool & Wolverine is currently playing in theaters, showcasing the strong bond and undeniable chemistry between these two beloved actors.
