Sean 'Diddy' Combs has issued an apology after a video from 2016 surfaced showing him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie. The footage, released on May 17, depicts Combs shoving and kicking Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura.

Combs concluded his statement by emphasizing that he was "not asking for forgiveness" but was "truly sorry." A representative for Combs did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
