Taylor Swift continued her UFO-themed fashion streak after the 2024 MTV VMAs, where she made history with seven wins. The Fortnight singer, now the most-awarded artist in VMAs history with 30 "moon people" trophies, celebrated her success in a unique ensemble at the Electric Lady Studios afterparty in New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
At the awards show earlier, Swift, 34, dazzled in a beaded Monse minidress adorned with a UFO design. She later swapped it for a matching UFO-printed tapestry jacket and asymmetrical mini skirt for the afterparty. The look was completed with a corset featuring an alien-inspired print, knee-high black boots, and her signature red lipstick. Swift's bold outfit was complemented by smoky eye makeup, bringing a mysterious glam to her post-VMA celebration.
Swift had plenty to celebrate after her big night, surpassing Beyoncé, who previously held the record for most VMAs with 25 solo artist wins. The Cowboy Carter star, 43, congratulated Swift as the night marked a monumental achievement for her career.
During the ceremony, Swift accepted the coveted Video of the Year award for her song "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone. In her acceptance speech, Swift gave a sweet shoutout to her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, crediting him for making the music video shoot a fun experience. "Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic," she said, adding, "I'll always remember him cheering me on from across the studio."
The UFO theme that appeared in Swift’s outfits for the evening seemed to be a nod to her song “Down Bad” from The Tortured Poets Department, her latest album. Speaking about the song on iHeartRadio, Swift shared that its lyrics describe the experience of being "love bombed" and compared it to being abducted by aliens. "It’s like she wanted to stay with them because it was weird but also cool," she explained.
Swift was joined by a host of celebrity friends, including Post Malone and Sabrina Carpenter, at the star-studded afterparty. With seven VMAs added to her collection, a record-breaking night, and a playful UFO-inspired style, Swift certainly had every reason to celebrate.
